German Strongman vs. Lamborghini

March 27, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

There’s no doubt in my mind that zee German’s are some of the strongest people on the face of the planet. As evidenced by this official Guinness Book of World Records attempt, this muscle-bound Schwarzen-knockoff holds onto a Lamborghini as the driver drops the clutch and burns up some rubber.

Since my German’s not that good, I don’t know if there was a previous record he was attempting to break or just trying to merely set a new record, but one things for sure: there’s no way in hell I could do this. Props to zee German for manning up to the challenge, fast forward to the 7:30 mark if you want to catch the straight action.

Bugatti Veyron Gets Sideways in the Tundra of Sweden

Who does this?  I mean really, taking your $1.8 million dollar supercar out to test on a snow covered track!  So jealous right now…

Truly a testament to how well the Bugatti’s all wheel drive system works, this three part video should inspire you to become this reckless wealthy.  The only thing I wish was that we could hear the engine better and not have to listen to the dubbed-soundtrack. Make sure to watch part one and three, but part two is where the fun really starts. Hit the jump to scope the vids.

The Ferrari California: Pure Sex

December 30, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

I’m poor, so I couldn’t make it to the Paris Auto Show this year, but Edmund’s reporters were able to make the trip. As shown in the video below, they got a close up look at the new Ferrari California. The CA costs as much as the F430 and they even share the same 4.3-liter engine, but that’s where the similarities end.

Where the F430 is a mid-engined pure-bred sports car, the California is a front-engined convertible hardtop with a pretty big trunk. This makes the Cali much more of a daily driver car. Tuned down from 490 horsepower to 460 for better emissions ratings and fuel economy, the California is not as blistering fast as the F430, but I’m sure it’s still a heck of a lot of fun to drive.

Nissan GT-R vs. a Rented Hertz Corvette…with Nitrous.

December 19, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

Garage 419 pitted these two cars against each other. One is driving a stock GT-R, a formidable opponent to say the least. 480+ horsepower, all wheel drive and launch control mean that this car can rocket to 60 MPH in just 3.5 seconds. The corvette, on the other hand, only has 400 horsepower and an automatic transmission, but the nitrous might be able to get the Vette moving fast enough to keep up with the GT-R on this 1/8 mile track. Before you watch, take a good guess at which car is going to win this battle.

Jay Leno Talks about his Corvette ZR1

Even though the man has a huge car collection, he made sure Chevrolet knew he wanted a ZR1.  But not just any ZR1, he wanted the first one to ever roll off the production line; serial 001.

I won’t spoil the rest of the video for you, but it seems like he really likes it.

SNL Spoofs Detroit

November 25, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

Detroit is in bad shape.  How is it that all three American auto manufacturers are in financial holes so deep that they all need a loan from the federal government just to pay their monthly bills?  Detroit does need help, there’s no doubt about that, but how did all three American auto manufacturers dig themselves in such a deep hole at the same time?

Here is some much needed comedy from Saturday Night Live to lighten up the issue a bit.

Ninja Cat’s Battle for Fish, Getaway in Toyota Yaris

November 19, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

I get ninja cats, but I don’t fully understand what Toyota was thinking when they made this commercial for the Australian public. This is just episode 1, so maybe a sub-plot will develop. Maybe they Aussie’s just really like cats…

Maybe in the next couple of episodes, Toyota will pitch some high performance Yaris air filters to help improve the high-speed getaway from the other kitties.  Or maybe they’ll mention how Toyota Yaris cargo liners would have stopped the kitty’s fish from sliding around in the trunk when he did that reverse-180 degree turn.  Who knows where they’ll go from here, but stick around, I’ll post up the next commercial in the series when its uploaded to the net.

Video: Dodge EV versus Dodge Challenger

November 18, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

The Dodge Challenger is no slouch. With 425 horses on tap, the 6.1-liter V8 engine can get up to 60mph in less than 5 seconds and finishing the quarter-mile in around 13 seconds.

But EV vehicles get 100% of their torque from 0 RPM’s, which means it can accelerate hard and keep moving fast until redline.  Dodge has been working on an EV vehicle, which is currently shielded within a Lotus body.  In this clip, you’ll see their concept EV run against a Challenger in an 800-foot (1/8-mile) race.

GM Releases Facts and Fiction Video

November 17, 2008 by · 1 Comment

Of Detroit’s big 3, General Motors is hurting the most right now. They have received some financial aid from the federal government already and they recently asked for another $25 billion dollars to invest in green technologies and to help pay their monthly bills.

The General just released this video on their website at GMFactsandFiction.com. It portrays what they believe will happen if the American auto industry collapses, and I must say, they make a lot of very valid points. If you are planning to buy a new car sometime soon, support your American manufacturers and buy domestic!

729 tires Nissan Serves Up More Proof for Porsche & the World

Nissan wants to make sure nobody is believes Porsche’s claim against the GT-R’s time on the ‘Ring. I thought they had made themselves clear by making an official statement and sending out a press release, but nothing is better than cold, hard proof. Today Nissan released a second video of the GT-R running around the ‘Ring in 7:29 seconds and also included a photo of the tires that were used and currently on display in Sumitomo Rubber Industries in Japan. The video shows the GT-R Nissan before the actual lap, along with the 120lbs of tracking and video equipment that was used to measure and record the GT-R’s performance. The racing starts around the 4-minute mark, hit the jump to watch the whole thing.
