Words of Wisdom from Dr. Ferdinand Porsche

January 12, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

When certain people talk, you should really listen up. The President of the United States (regardless of his or her party). Your mother. Rocky’s coach. In the automotive world, the voice to note is Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, the brains behind Germany’s finest auto manufacturer: Porsche. In this classic commercial, the Dr. waxes philosophic about man’s relation to time, human desires, and immortality. Oh, and there’s also some wicked clips of classic Porsches doing donuts. I won’t lie: You’ll probably want to turn down the audio on this clip because it can interfere with the southward blood flow that comes from the visuals. You’ve been warned.

Worlds Fastest Car’s Duke it Out in a Drag Race

December 18, 2008 by Ryan · Leave a Comment

Well, maybe they aren’t the worlds fastest cars, but they sure are quick!  Chevy ZR1 vs. Ferrari 599 GTB vs. Porsche 911 GT2 vs. Godzilla.  I’m not sure how long of a runway these guys had, but I think it was close to the mile mark. Check it out as these drivers smash the pedal to the floor and take these four super cars up to top speed.

Porsche 911 GT2: Top Speed Run

December 17, 2008 by Ryan · Leave a Comment

There are some incredibly fast cars in this world. We’ve already seen two this week. The 599 was quite a lot quicker than the GT-R, which is reasonable considering the several hundred thousand dollar price difference. So how does the 599 stand up the the GT2, a car that costs more than twice the GT-R and boasts 530 horsepower?

Video: Dodge EV versus Dodge Challenger

November 18, 2008 by Ryan · Leave a Comment

The Dodge Challenger is no slouch. With 425 horses on tap, the 6.1-liter V8 engine can get up to 60mph in less than 5 seconds and finishing the quarter-mile in around 13 seconds.

But EV vehicles get 100% of their torque from 0 RPM’s, which means it can accelerate hard and keep moving fast until redline.  Dodge has been working on an EV vehicle, which is currently shielded within a Lotus body.  In this clip, you’ll see their concept EV run against a Challenger in an 800-foot (1/8-mile) race.

Ferrari Doesn’t Want a Piece of the Sedan Market

October 3, 2008 by Ryan · Leave a Comment

If you’re interested in a 4-door sports car made by one of the worlds premiere super car builders, you’ve got a couple of options.  From Porsche comes the Panamera, Aston Martin has their Rapide, and now Lamborghini has its Estoque.  But not Ferrari.  Ferrari isn’t interested because Ferrari hasn’t forgotten its roots.  Ferrari hasn’t forgotten that it is a racing team first and that the only reason it has a small production line on the side is to help fund its R&D.  A brave statement when the car industry is in it’s biggest slump in decades, but I applaud them for maintaining their focus and not diluting their brand.  Bravo Ferrari.

Artega to Produce 4-Cylinder Model for US Market

September 9, 2008 by Ryan · Leave a Comment

Artega GT’s should be hitting the street soon, and while current production is limited to only 500 a year, Artega says they are planning to release another model that will be powered by a 4-cylinder engine. Although it is likely that the new model will be available worldwide, Artega has their eye’s set on the US market, saying that “roadsters have traditionally always done very well in the US.”

Artega owns enough of the land around their factory that they can scale their output to meet production goals within the next 2-3 years. Expect to see spy shots and press release photos sometime in mid-2010. Until then, enjoy these shots of the GT.

Artega: 99 Special Edition GT’s for 2008

August 28, 2008 by Ryan · Leave a Comment

The Artega GT is breath-taking. Henrik Fisker, the man behind the design cues over at Aston Martin, has simply outdone himself. From the extraordinary body lines to the incredibly fresh interior, this car is straight-up HOT! Using a rear mounted 3.6-liter V6 pushing out 300hp to the wheels, this 2,400 pound car will do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds.

Artega is a newly formed German car company. The GT is their first release, and limited it will be. Only 99 GT’s will be sold in the first year and every one of them will be special edition’s. The “Intro 2008″ GT’s will have all standard features plus new options for paint, rims, and numerous interior customizations. After this batch is sold, expect only 500 to be available on the market next year. Priced at $110,000 means you won’t find too many of these GT’s up for sale in the used car market. Now stop reading and go look at the gallery, just make sure to not drool on your keyboard!

Volkswagen’s Transparent Factory

August 28, 2008 by Ryan · Leave a Comment

Zee German’s have always done things a little differently than everyone else. Their precision and attention to detail is top notch, which is what makes German engineering have that special stigma when talking about cars.

One of the finest feats of German engineering has to be Volkswagen’s Transparent Factory. This is where Volkswagen produces the Phaeton, their 4-door luxury saloon car that is powered by several different engines, most notably the 450hp W12. Surrounded by nothing but glass and state-of-the-art equipment, VW technicians get to work in an immaculately clean, sunny place; not the stereotypical factory from the 1930’s. Oh how far we’ve come…scope the images and enjoy the precision of zee German’s.
