Bugatti to Release the Veyron Grand Sport Roadster on Aug 16th
August 8, 2008 by admin
As this is the first post on The Auto Junkyard, I’d like to welcome you to the blog with information on one of the fastest production cars ever produced. The Bugatti Veyron is a legend, just like Pierre Veyron was when he won the 24 hours of le Mans for Bugatti in 1939. It is an extremely exclusive super car as only 300 of the original Veyron’s will be made. But that’s not exclusive enough for some people, so Bugatti has chosen to release several limited-edition Veyrons over the last year: the Pur Sang, the Fbg par Hermes, the Sang Noir, and now they want to add one more to the line up. It’s called the Grand Sport Roadster and it features a removable targa top! Power output has been decreased slightly to 990hp, and all the structural reinforcements should have a slight impact on performance. With the edition of the targa top, Bugatti has decided to limit the top speed from 253mph down to a paltry 217mph, making it the fastest open-roofed car in the world.
Despite the compromises in performance, Bugatti has figured out how to make a hot car even hotter! Bugatti is only making 80 of these beauties for 2009 and although there’s no word on pricing yet, you can bet your pocket book that it won’t be cheap. You can see one first hand at the Veyron Grand Sport’s world premiere at the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance on August 16, 2008.
